China Train Tickets 2026: A Booking Workflow
A successful China train booking starts with the station pair, not the city pair. A city can have several stations, and the correct train can still be a poor fit if the departure station adds a long cross-city transfer. Before paying, check four fields together: date, exact station, passenger identity and arrival time.
Make a station-to-hotel table first
Write the full station names beside each hotel. Estimate hotel checkout to platform, then arrival platform to the next hotel. Keep a separate line for luggage and food. A transfer that looks like a three-hour train ride may consume most of a day once those edges are included.
For a two-city move, compare at least two reasonable departure times. The earliest service is not always best if it forces a rushed checkout; the latest can remove your first evening in the next city.
Check passenger details before payment
