There is no single weather pattern for a country of China’s size. Plan for the regions and elevations on your actual itinerary, then check a current local forecast shortly before each travel day.
Compare regions, not just months
Northern cities, humid river valleys, karst landscapes and highland destinations can feel very different on the same date. A multi-city trip may need layers for cool evenings, rain protection and comfortable walking conditions. Mountain visibility can matter as much as temperature.
Build flexibility into the itinerary
Put weather-sensitive viewpoints and cruises beside an indoor or city alternative. Confirm whether an attraction, boat or mountain transport is operating on the day, and allow extra time when a transfer depends on conditions. Treat historical climate averages as planning context rather than a forecast.
